After more than sixteen years of committed leadership, Roxana Vitan is stepping down as President of the Romanian-American Foundation. Beginning November 2025, Suzana Dobre, former Vice President, will assume the role of President.
“Roxana played a foundational role in creating and growing RAF, launching impactful projects and fostering strong partnerships across the country. She has truly reflected what the foundation stands for—resilience, clarity, and purpose. Whether navigating complex challenges or celebrating milestones, Roxana led with integrity and clarity. Her calm strength and genuine care brought people together and set a clear example of what good leadership looks like,” said Bogdan Vernescu, Chair of the RAF Board of Trustees.
“Having been with this organization in its many forms since 1994, and serving as RAF’s CEO from its formation until now, this moment of looking toward retirement is very special to me, both personally and professionally. I feel humbled and grateful to have had the privilege to walk this path alongside hundreds of great people, who taught me what I know today and made me think about what I might not know. I am proud and amazed that I could be a small part of a foundation that will be here forever, serving Romania in perpetuity. It is the honor of a lifetime! The team of the foundation, under Suzana’s leadership will continue to serve you with courage and creativity. Thank you all!” Roxana Vitan shared.
Suzana has been part of RAF since 2011 and has contributed significantly to program development that improves education and economic opportunities in communities throughout Romania. She is well-prepared to build on this solid foundation and bring fresh perspectives to the role.
RAF remains committed to advancing its projects and finding solutions to support a more equitable and innovative Romania. We are grateful to Roxana for her years of dedication and wish Suzana success in her new role.
