What we do

The Romanian-American Foundation invests in people, communities, and institutions to help Romania grow stronger, more resilient, and better prepared for the future.

Our work focuses on areas where long-term, strategic support can create meaningful change. We take an integrated view of development: when rural communities, technology, education, and civil society reinforce one another, progress becomes more inclusive and sustainable. That is why, where it makes sense, we bring multiple priorities together – linking ‑economic initiatives with education, innovation, and community engagement to reflect how people and places truly evolve.

We continuously observe social, economic, and technological trends and adapt our programs accordingly. This dynamic approach ensures that our investments remain relevant, responsive to emerging needs, and positioned for long‑term, systemic impact.

Across everything we do, we emphasize education, collaboration, and the use of technology as key drivers that strengthen people and institutions, and help communities thrive.

Our interventions cover three strategic priorities: RURAL ECONOMY, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION and CIVIL SOCIETY & PHILANTHROPY
