STEAM Clubs <\/em>aims to foster scientific literacy and problem-solving skills among children aged 8-12 by creating and piloting an innovative experiential STEAM program to be implemented using the public infrastructure of Children\u2019s Clubs.\u00a0Revitalizing this infrastructure with a modern curriculum could create new opportunities for children to discover science and technology in a fun way.<\/p>\n

CONTEXT<\/strong><\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Romania has the lowest level of scientific literacy in the EU: only 2% of the population can correctly answer eight science\u2011related questions, compared to the EU average of 24% (Eurobarometer, 2021).
\nTo improve scientific literacy, numerous studies highlight the importance of early science education through hands\u2011on activities.<\/p>\n

The successful pilot project by Eematico demonstrated the feasibility of adopting a modern STEAM curriculum within Children\u2019s Clubs. The pilot\u2019s conclusions strongly support scaling the program nationally.
\nEematico will maintain the same approach: delivering local demonstration workshops and providing continuous support to each Club willing to adopt and implement the model.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

STRATEGIE<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The program integrates hands\u2011on learning activities with teacher training and logistical support, leveraging the existing infrastructure of Children\u2019s Clubs and Palaces, which provide non\u2011formal education.<\/p>\n

Main program activities:<\/p>\n

  1. \n

    Improving the educational curriculum:<\/strong>
    \nThe pilot program integrated key scientific fields\u2014physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics\u2014with practical applications in geography, architecture, and engineering. Over the next three years, Eematico will refine the program to scale nationally.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Expanding STEAM Clubs in 24 Children\u2019s Clubs:<\/strong>
    \nThese clubs will receive assistance to develop the skills, tools, and community support necessary for long\u2011term sustainability.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Implementing the curriculum for children aged 8\u201312 at the local level:<\/strong>
    \nThe program will reach more than 15,000 children over the next three years.
    \nEematico will provide face\u2011to\u2011face training, mentoring, and a learning platform to guide at least 48 teachers from 24 Clubs through curriculum implementation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Developing support infrastructure:<\/strong>
    \nClubs will receive support for fundraising and parent engagement to accelerate program growth.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n
